A Spring Day at the Duck Pond
I went to the duck pond in Assiniboine park on Saturday, March 24th. There was still a bit of ice on the pond, and there were quite a few Canada Geese. They can be be pretty surly at the best of times, but a few of them were actively chasing off rivals. I went back on Sunday, and found that the pond had frozen overnight. The geese and ducks were slipping and sliding all over the place. While I was there, the sun came out and the ice started to melt, leaving open water in places where the geese and ducks would swim.
